Not feeling 100% today so a quick little thought. On Monday, Randy Carlyle had the Leafs practicing their 5 on 3 power play. The unit he decided to use had Nazem Kadri finally at centre on the top unit flanked by James Van Riemsdyk and Phil Kessel. Dion Phaneuf was at his normal spot on the point. However, Tyler Bozak had replaced the injured the Cody Franson on the other point. Carlyle decided to pass up on putting Jake Gardiner or Morgan Rielly on the power play. Instead, he put Bozak who Carlyle has played more minutes than any other forward since he became coach of the Leafs. I mean when I think of necessary players to be on the power play (let alone a two-man advantage) I know Bozak’s name races to the top of my list.

A black hole offensively and an overrated defender, I’m beginning to think that Bozak may have magical powers of deception. There is no other explanation I can think of any longer to logically understand why he is so valued and relied upon. This clip below springs to mind when I think of how Bozak has been the Leafs’ top line centre for over three seasons and is paid $4.25 a year:

Anyone know if the Leafs can find a White Wizard anywhere to rid themselves of this curse?

seems clear to me. Basically he gets to keep his top faceoff man, we know how much he values that.
